Tokyo - Initial setup | Configure unit objectives

Goals are actions that the student must take to terminate a unit. ContentCloud allows in various templates we can configure that interaction with virtually any component becomes a goal. For example, we could say that the student should visit all the screens of the unit; or that you must also view all the videos on the unit; or that you need to pass the questionnaires...

Once we set goals, they must all be met at 100%. So, if you have to watch the videos, you'll need to watch them all, unless we've removed that restriction from an individual video.

In most templates, by default, the student must meet at least one goal for the unit to be completed in the LMS: to visit all pages and all screens of the unit (no need to complete them, i.e. scroll to the end).

From there, you can modify and make a custom configuration.

    Remember
Goal settings are independent of the way you navigate.

You can configure the desired goals and set a sequential or free navigation (See here). So, for example, we could have a content where the goal is to visit all screens, but with free navigation. Thus, the student will be able to visit them in the order that he/she wishes, but he will have to visit them all.

See how goals and navigation are set up in this video:

    General configuration

    1. Access the project properties area and enter the "Objectives"area.

    2. You will find the different components of the template organized into categories, being able to choose the desired action in each of them.

    • Category section. Sets whether pages or screens are targets. You can decide between:
      • Visit: The goal will be met when the student between the pages/screens.
      • Complete Scrolling: The goal will be met by scrolling to the end of all pages/screens.
    • Category activity. Sets whether questionnaires or reinforcement activities are objectives. you can select from:
      • Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component.
      • Submit: You will need to answer questions from the questionnaire or booster activity at least once. It will not be necessary to get it right, it is enough to answer.
      • Overcome or complete: You will need to pass the quiz cut-off note or booster activity or exhaust available attempts.
    • Multimedia category. Video, interactive video and audio are grouped here. The available options are:
      • Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component.
      • Start playback: You will need to start playing the audios/videos, but you won't need to watch them until the end.
      • Complete playback: Audios/videos will need to be played back to the end.
    • Organizer category. Here are components such as click map, image gallery, audio gallery, timeline, accordion and tab group. The available options are:
      • Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component.
      • Interact: You will need to interact with the component. For example, if it is a click map, click on one of its active areas; if it's an image gallery, move between your images; Etc.
      • Complete: You will need to complete the component, i.e. if it is a click map, access all its active areas; if it's an image gallery, visit all your images, etc.
    • Image category. Group images and similar components. The available options are:
      • Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component.
      • Interact: You will need to interact with the component. If you are a launcher, click on it; if it is a before/after, scroll through it; Etc. In the case of images, it will only have an effect on images that have a link, so you have to click on them.

    3. After selecting the desired targets, press "Save".

Modify the objectives of a particular component

Imagine that you have marked that the goal is to start the videos of the unit. This will force all videos that have been incorporated to be viewed.

But the Tokyo template allows you to customize this behavior. So, you could say they look all but one of them.

    To do so:

    1. Enter the editing area and select the component you want to modify

    2. In the "Exceed Target" property you will see that, by default, "Legacy" is marked. This means that the general parameter configured in the project properties will be applied. By displaying the menu you will be able to choose from the other options available for the configuration of the objectives. So, for example, you could make this video non-target.

Show the list of goals to students

If the unit has been configured with sequential navigation and required objectives, the page feed button will be locked, and clicking on it will display a popup indicating what the student must do to advance.

But if the navigation is free, the student will be able to access any page freely, without receiving specific notifications of the objectives that he/she must perform. For this reason you can activate the "Unit Objectives" button located on the interface,

    To activate it you must:

    1. Access the interface properties.

    2. Mark the "Show Goals" property to "Yes".
